Think Outside the Box
CEO Mr. Kim Dong -kyu found a niche market. “After graduation, I worked for a ship-repair & maintenance company. There, for the first time, I was able to handle special dyes.” He continues “they were importing special paints 100% then. Then I found a hidden opportunity. “In 1990, he founded his new company KUMHO International, a ship repairing business with localization as his only goal. “I did both; importing and studying special dyes that would be durable against sea water and wastes.” Nine years later, he started Durachemie.
With its motto “think outside the box”, the company has been contributing to the chemical industry by developing and supplying special coasting systems. The apple of Mr. Kim’s eyes is Durachemie’s R & D laboratory as he heavily focuses on advancing relevant technology.
One of his employees witnessed “In early years, there existed virtually no profit, and we decided to invest in the development. It turned out successfully as Durachemie could outrun competitors in terms of technology.”
DURA SKID & UREA FLOORS
In 2006, Durachemie’s Dura Skid earned an Eco-Friendly Mark (solvent-free and heavy metal-free). This anti-skid agent, a new construction technology comprised of environmentally-friendly skid resistance agents, is excellent at durability as the high level (90%) of the skid resistance is possible with the formation of a rough surface. Dura Skid also shows strong adhesiveness and exceptionally visibility. Its installation requires relatively less time as it does not require separating materials and only room temperature is necessary. Various application areas include crossroads, stairs and passages, subway lining boards, special skidding environment, and so on. Dura Skid has dominated the market up to 40%.
UREA-FLOOR is the combination result of Epoxy Flooring Product Group and Urethan Flooring Product Group; it links two strong traits from both sides (high strength and high flexibility). This leads to fewer occurrences of cracks, excellent durability, and show-resistance against heavy-loads and water vapor pressure. UREA-FLOOR like Dura Skid is toward environmentally friendly with heavy-metal free and no harmful elements. Its leveling work can be done at low temperatures as well. Applications are floors of factory and warehouses where heavy loads are expecting or anti-chemical or waterproof property is demanding, and many other venues including offices, hospitals, schools, and parking lots.
