SEOUL, KOREA — GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 13,113 vehicles in the domestic market and exported 48,619 vehicles in April. Total sales for the month were 61,732 vehicles.
Benefiting from positive demand for the Chevrolet Spark mini-car, Cruze sedan and Orlando Active Life Vehicle, domestic sales in April totaled 13,113 vehicles, which was an increase of 0.8 percent from 13,006 vehicles sold in April 2011.
"Our outstanding domestic sales over the four months are due to strong demand for our Chevrolet brand and our competitive lineup of products. With the recent rollout of Chevrolet’s iconic Corvette, GM Korea now has a complete product lineup that ranges from mini-cars to luxury sports cars,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing.
“Each product is a strong weapon for competing in the domestic market. We expect sales to grow further throughout the rest of the year,” Arora added. “GM Korea will continue to meet the high expectations of our customers through cutting-edge aftersales programs like Chevy Care, exciting promotions like Chevy Care CU AGAIN 2012 and new investment in our sales network to ensure the optimum level of service.”
Exports of complete vehicles by GM Korea were down 17 percent in April from 58,602 vehicles exported in April 2011. GM Korea also exported 88,074 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
For the first four months of 2012, GM Korea recorded total sales of 267,905 vehicles. This was an increase of 2.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Domestic vehicle sales increased 4.8 percent to 44,961 units from 42,908 units in the same period last year. GM Korea’s exports in the first four months climbed 1.5 percent to 222,944 units from 219,575 units in the first four months.
