SEOUL, KOREA – Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, delivered a keynote address on ‘A New Era of Opportunity’ at ‘Seoul Digital Forum 2012’ in Sheraton Grande Walkerhill on May 22.
He talked about five priorities which he thought would be fundamental to IT industry. 1) Machine learning benefit of data will come from learning. 2) Form factors/UI. 3) Cloud: people are underestimating the cloud. Cloud became set of technology where inter setting the way information is transferred. See in twitter and facebook that could not exist without cloud. 4) Core platform: the number of the core platform is not broad but narrow field. 5) New Scenarios. I will spend the time to how innovators will use information and how people would access the information in the future. New note taking technology and we can engineer how people would live.
He continued that “I know digital technology need improve since I still see people using notes, pens, and etc. For us, this is an important year since we are releasing Windows 8. Windows 7 have been shipping around the world in great number. But the next windows need to incorporate touch and pen addition to mouse and keyboard. It needs to support the people in personal life and professional life. It will be the dawning of rebirth of windows and there will be new devices that will go with Windows 8. We think that in spirit of coexistence, Brad McCabe will share the new Windows 8.”
