Lifting Korea's global profile as IT powerhouse Leading Korean PDP, LCD display and touch screen producer, Namjoo Tech Inc. (www.namjootech.co.kr) has concluded an export agreement worth US$3.6 million during GITEX 2005 held in Dubai, UAE, in September. With the support of the Incheon IT Promotion Agency (IITPA), the company is successfully helping to raise Korea's profile as an IT power, seizing overseas marketing opportunities such as this one in Dubai.
With emphasis on the development and manufacturing of military industry items, Namjoo Tech is contributing to the development of the nation's defense industry through localization of warning systems and communication relay equipment for naval destroyers. On the basis of its military industry expertise, the company has expanded its business area to the domestic supply of LCD/PDP TVs and Infrared Touch Screens. Namjoo Tech president, Hwang Namjoo, underscored these achievements during an exclusive interview with the Korea IT Times: "We have actively participated in the various exhibitions such as CeBIT and GITEX and earned creditability for our products, exporting SKD products as well as complete sets to overseas buyers". Likewise, by signing a contract with an overseas manufacturer of the military industry, Namjoo Tech is supplying domestic military industry together with them. Hwang stressed, "Namjoo Tech is doing its best to construct a strategic management system with the firm belief that continuous study and development will bring the continuity and development our company needs," He added that currently the development of the Voyage Data Recorder for ships, similar to a ship's black box, is under way. Although Namjoo Tech started manufacturing defense industry items such as UAV Warning Systems and SONAR Systems, the defense field could not alone guarantee continuous growth for the firm, as Korea's defense industry market scale is relatively small. Based on this assessment, Hwang enforced intensive investment in developing new products and in profitable civilian industries such as PDP, LCD TVs and Touch Screens. The president commented: "By showcasing our PDP TV, as well as 42 inch Infrared Touch Screen etc. in CeBIT, held in Hanover, Germany on March 2005, Namjoo Tech received favorable comments from all sorts of overseas buyers." As the digital TV market is sharply expanding worldwide, LCD and PDP flat TV screens will be highlighted because of price competitiveness and the best functions as a product replacing the existing CRT TV market and since they can respond to consumer tastes, demanding larger monitors and clearer screen quality most appropriately, Hwang explained. To appropriately respond to these changing trends in the market, the president said that LCD and PDP display produced by Namjoo Tech Inc. will become the most perfect window for consumers to meet and experience new and varied digital worlds. Because Namjoo Tech uses Samsung SDI or LG Electronics Panel, the company is superior in terms of consumer awareness overseas. Since the company further provides large-sized Touch Screen plus PDP as well as LCD, Namjoo Tech's products have diverse utilization scope for corporation, exhibition hall, hotel and education. Serving a niche market Touch Screen is enlarging its market scale through diverse application. As they are offered in a wide variety of sizes (10.4inch, 15inch, 17inch, 19inch, 20inch, 30inch, 32inch, 42inch, and 50inch) to satisfy the needs of diverse customers, they can be applied to such touchscreen required solutions as POS, ATMs for financial transactions, various unmanned kiosks, industrial and medical devices, vehicle showrooms, hotel and model-home lobbies, shopping malls, and building information terminals. Hwang added confidently, "The largesized [30inch, 32inch, 42inch & 50inch] infrared touch-screens developed by Namjoo-Tech coincide well with the rising trend of larger PDP and LCD TVs and are well-suited to the increasingly common user environment that requires larger screens." Namjoo Tech's durable and reliable infrared touch-screens possess a 100 percent screen penetration rate, strong shock resistance (using tempered glass or polycarbonate), and fast and accurate touch recognition. The company is planning continuously to instill Korea's global image as an IT power by means of a raft of on-the-spot exhibitions as well as business negotiations in the Philippines and Indonesia in Nov. this year. In addition, Namjoo will participate in the CES Show in Las Vegas in Jan. 2006, plus the U.S. big buyers invitation exhibition, as well as a promotional meeting in Florida soon to be hosted by Gartner.
