e-Learning Korea 2011

SEOUL, KOREA — Showcasing the past, present, and future of the e-Learning industry, “e-Learning Korea 2012” will be held from September 12 to 14 at Hall C and the third floor of Conference Center in COEX, Seoul

This year marks the 7th time the conference will be held. The event is the biggest e-Learning-related event in Asia, and is co-hosted by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; Ministry of Culture, Sprots and Tourism, Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and Gangwon-do Office of Education. Over 100 e-Learning companies, organizations, institutions, researchers, education experts, and new-media professionals from about twenty countries will participate in this global festival, which will provide a venue where they will exchange new issues and research related to e-Learning and discuss the policies and industries together.

Recently, the e-Learning market has expanded as a smart learning market based on the smart infrastructure. Unlike in the past where education was primarily provided at schools, now learners can choose the time and place for education, be it their house or while in transit. Of note, various smart learning contents using the platform provided by KT and SK Telecom have enabled the self-directed learning for many people.

On top of this, e-Learning Korea 2012 is planning to create exhibition zones for different categories such as smart-home, smart-school, and smart-work, under the theme "Smart Learning, Smart Future!" displaying a wide range of smart learning policies from government departments and new products.

In addition, the title of this year’s e-Learning international conference, which will be held for two days, is “New Frontiers of SMART Education.” The guest speakers include Sir John Daniel of Commonwealth of Learning as well as other experts from Korea and elsewhere, who will engage in discussions related to smart-learning-related government policies and examples of successful smart-learning companies.

Lastly, e-Learning Business Plaza will be set up as part of additional events to establish and expand the export route for Korean companies. This export consultation will match about 15 selected foreign buyers with around 25 Korean e-learning firms for one-on-one business meetings. Last year’s consultation achieved 74 sessions and contracts that amounted to USD 22.28 million in total.
