Terrestrial and satellite DMB phones and receivers will be demonstrated
During the APEC 2005 IT Exhibition, Samsung Electronics will be demonstrating its latest technologies in the fields of video displays, networking, and wireless communication. It will showcase its leading role in developing latest technologies by displaying the world's largest TV set the company has yet made, while enhancing its image as a global leader in generating mobile technologies with its WiBro/DMB related products. Demonstration of WiBro Services Samsung Electronics will demonstrate WiBro services with its terminals and equipments. During the 'Samsung 4G Forum 2005' in August, Samsung Electronics already successfully demonstrated WiBro services that can seamlessly transmit data while moving at speeds of 80 km/h. Last month, Samsung attracted much attention when the company was chosen as the supplier of WiBro testing systems to Sprint Nextel, an American telecom operator. Display of the World's Largest PDP TV on the Market Samsung's 80 inch PDP TV is the world's largest PDP TV on the market. It is the industry's highest resolution HDTV (1080p compliant) with a wide screen aspect ratio of 16:9. It uses Samsung's revolutionary picture enhancement technology called "DNIe (Digital Natural Image engine).' This product has a contrast ratio of 2000:1, along with a palette of 549 billion displayable colors, 60 times greater color resolution than existing PDPs with a screen size of more than 70". Aside from this, Samsung plans to display the world's largest 102" PDP TV along with an 82" LCD TV. Demonstration of DMB Services - Display of Terrestrial DMB TV Receivers - Samsung's DMB-T450, a 4-inch "basic type" LCD model, is a ubiquitous pocketsized product that can be used for receiving DMB broadcasts anywhere and anytime. Despite its small size, the handset has a 4-inch wide LCD screen together with a stereo speaker and a USB port. The receiver can also support virtual surround sounds as in the case of listening to music from an MP3 player. In addition to this, Samsung will also display 7-inch DMB receivers. - Demonstration of Terrestrial and Satellite DMB Phones Samsung Electronics, which has successfully developed the world's first terrestrial DMB phone, the SPH-B1200, earlier this year, plans to display various types of DMB phones, including the swing-type terrestrial DMB phone, the SPH-B3200 that was unveiled at the Korea Electronics Show. In addition, Samsung plans to unveil various types of satellite DMB phones in addition to the SCH-B100 and SCHB250 that supports horizontal viewing. The terrestrial DMB phone, the SPH-3200, in particular, has a special feature with its design as its LCD screen can be turned around 180 degrees with a light touch, thus enhancing convenience for a user making a call or watching a DMB broadcast. Display of High-Tech Portable Phones At the exhibition, trendsetting, high-tech portable phones around the world will also be displayed. These include Samsung's recently unveiled premium phone, the Serene, jointly developed with Denmark's Bang & Olufsen, and the Super Music Phone, the SGH-i300, fitted with the world's largest capacity 3GB hard disk, and the Blue-Black Phone II, the SGHD600, the latest version of the Blue-Black Phone, the SGH-D500, that has sold over 8 million units since its appearance on the market in November last year.
