SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Network Services and Solutions said Thursday that it received the award at the 2012 IDEA(International Design Excellence Award) design awards, one of the world three design competitions including iF, red dot design in German.
IDEA competition has announced the best design product every year and been co-hosting IDSA(Industrial Design Association of the United States) and Business Week economy magazine. Total 4 products were awarded △smart door lock, △smart home system, △smart door communication system and △smart showcase added the firm.
As awarded, Samsung Smart Door lock was dominated the world's three leading design awards after having been iF, Red dot design award in last March and April respectively. Smart home system including smart door communication system also recorded award 2 times of the top design award iF award consecutively. IDEA said "Samsung SNS products are well contained innovative as well as environmental elements including human-centric design" about the reason the award.
Smart door lock is the most optimized with Samsung smart home systems as well as the state-of-the-art lock, applying security technologies. Smart home system make users control gas valves, household heating/cooling devices, lighting, and image recording/playing using a single cell phone.
In particular, smart door communication system consolidated camera with door intercom, doorlock , so that improved the design dramatically and reduced damage to wall installation costs. Samsung SNS said "consumer-oriented and distinctive design is effective" and "we are tried to achieve a quality design of enhancing the competitiveness." Meanwhile, Samsung SNS, which changed its name from Seoul Commtech last March, was established in 1993, and focuses on building wireless infrastructure systems and home networks.
