Seoul Hilton Christmas Train
At the downtown Millennium Seoul Hilton, Christmas begins a month early. The hotel held a ceremony on Nov. 20 to light up its 10- meter-high Christmas tree and unveil its emblematic miniature train and rail-track that has been circling around the lobby for the past ten years during the holidays. Austrian National Day Feted
On the occasion of the country's National Day, Austrian Ambassador, H.E. Wilhelm M. Donko, held a reception in his residence in Seoul on Oct. 26. In addition to the Seoul diplomatic corps, a raft of businessmen, as well as Austria-related persons, were present, including Mag. Soonae Lee-Fink, and vice president Ile Mloc responsible for marketing at Oriental Brewery etc. Hungary Celebrates National Day
On the occasion of the 49th Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution against the Communist Rule, Hungary Ambassador, H.E. Istvan Torzsa, held a diplomatic function at the Lotte Hotel, Seoul on Oct. 21 together with the Honorary Consul in Seoul attended by the Seoul diplomatic corps and businesspersons. Turkish Ambassador Winding Up in Korea On the same day, on Oct. 28, 2005, both the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey held their Independence Day and Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic at the Hotel Shilla and the Millennium Seoul Hilton respectively. Because Turkish Ambassador Selim Kuneralp is slated to leave Korea soon, a large number of the diplomatic corps in Seoul and invited guests attended the Turkey Embassy function. Germany and Spain Hold National Day Functions
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Embassy of Spain held their National Day functions on Oct. 7 and 12 at the German Ambassador's residence and the Hotel Lotte respectively. The Seoul diplomatic corps attended the two Embassy function in large numbers and the Germany Embassy function especially drew many German businessmen in Seoul to commemorate the Day of German Unity. The National Museum of Korea Opens With Celebratory Concerts The National Museum of Korea (http://www.museum.go.kr/eng/) heralded its new Yongsan building on Oct. 28, starting with a series of celebratory music concerts in its theater hall. The National Museum is open to visitors free of charge till the end of this year. On November, 2005 also, several countries feted their National Day including Poland on Nov. 9, Oman on Nov. 21, Lebanon ( a jewel of Middle East) on Nov. 22, Romania on Nov. 29, and Laos on Dec. 2 respectively. Amb. Valeriu Arteni of Romania held another opening cocktail-gala of the Romanian Film Festival at Korea Film Council under the auspices of the National Day
