Q: Firstly, would you give us your assessment of the results for 2005 for the Exhibition & Convention Team and outline your plans for next year.
A: KOTRA has supported a total of 189 overseas exhibition participations this year, evaluating that overseas exhibition are the most effective tool to support smaller companies' overseas marketing.
By overseas exhibitions, KOTRA has taken part in a total of 67 overseas exhibitions under the direct supervision of KOTRA. In addition to a Korea first-rate product exhibition in Mexico, KOTRA has supported a total of 115 times participations in overseas exhibitions for export-associated institutions after the acceptance of an appointment from MOCIE.
To sum up, KOTRA has helped about 4,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to introduce their products to overseas buyers, seize new product development trends of leading foreign companies, and export their products directly.
Q: Would you explain KOTRA's collateral support activity regarding trade increase support through exhibition business
A: To boost the results of overseas exhibitions, KOTRA is operating a variety of programs such as exhibition products' transportation, on-the-spot customs clearance, interpretation services, booth design and on-the-spot market trend explanation, plus 50% support of participation expenditure for exhibiting companies.
At the same time to support export enlargement of participating companies, KOTRA is using our influence for one-on-one business meetings between visiting buyers and exhibition participation Korean firms plus strengthening the attraction of exhibition hall visiting buyers.
Q: In the years to come, what are KOTRA's priority overseas exhibition business areas as well as items.
A: Next year, KOTRA is planning to make inroads more actively into not only BRIC's nations, such as Brazil, Russia, India and China, but also strategic markets like Vietnam, Cuba and Syria.
Furthermore, KOTRA is scheduled to take part not only in world renowned film and broadcasting exhibitions like the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, AFM (American Film Market), France MIPCOM, but also in overseas exhibitions of new growth engine industries such as game or the environment.
