Spotlight on the global telematics business market and future prospects The 2005 International Telematics Conference and Exhibition is scheduled to be held at Grand Hilton Seoul on Dec. 7-8. Korean and foreign experts, professors, researchers, businessmen and other guests from the academic, industrial and research fields will participate in the international events.
They are scheduled to make an announcement on the current situation, future directions and visions related to telematics and exchange various opinions on the development of telematics, giving a big boost to the industry. The global events consist of a seminar on domestic and foreign policies, industries, technology and directions related to telematics, a panel discussion on the domestic telematics technology and the direction toward the activation of the telematics industry, and an exhibition designed to show domestic telematics technologies and products. Yim Chu-hwan, president of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), will deliver an opening address at the 2005 International Telematics Conference on Dec. 7. Delivering a speech, Yim is expected to place emphasis on activation of the telematics industry and strengthening of national competitiveness through the advanced telematics technology. On telematics, he is likely to comment on the current status of the telematics industry, ways for development of the industry, and future strategies to bolster competitiveness of the industry. Yim is also expected to stress the importance of the telematics industry and its great contribution to the development of the industry as a whole. Meanwhile, Lee Sung-ok, head of the information planning division of the Ministry of Information and Communication, will deliver a congratulatory speech at the international telematics conference on Dec. 7. In his speech, Lee is expected to introduce the government's IT 839 strategy and the importance of the telematics industry in the ubiquitous era. He is also likely to introduce Korea's telematics technology and services to foreign guests participating in the international telematics conference and exhibition. At the seminar on domestic and foreign policies, industries, technology and directions related to telematics, six guests will deliver keynote speeches. Phil Mageny, president and principal analyst of the 2005 International Telematics Conference and Exhibition, will speak about the current status of global telematics business market and prospects. He is expected to introduce the automotive wireless & telematics solutions, automotive digital entertainment, and navigation & multifunction head unit. Lee Yun-deok, RFID/USN & telematics PM of Institute of Information Technology Assessment, will deliver a speech on future directions in telematics technology development. Tsuguo Nobe of Nissan Motor Co. is scheduled to deliver a speech on research and service products on telematics at Nissan. Meanwhile, Par Mattisson, senior product manager of ERISSON, will comment on safety and security tracking using telematics service. Kim Chi-dong of MIC will introduce laws on protection and usage of location information and LBS activating strategies to Korean and foreign participants at the seminar.
