The New Year's stock market challenges KOSPI 1600 mark age following last year's brisk market. Major securities companies at home forecast that this year's stock market would continue last year's bull pace, encouraged by corporate profit improvement, balanced growth of export/domestic demand, good environment of demand and supply and so forth. To begin with, KOSPI index which has repeated the highest mark march day after day last year, challenges the highest 1600 level as the index is expected to continue its bull pace this year too. Korea Investment & Securities and Kiwoom.com Securities had their fortune told the highest KOSPI index mark this year as 1600 level and the rest of securities companies forecast the latter half level of 1500 mark as the highest index. Kiwoom.com Securities explained: "The Korean stock market has the potential to rise over 20% in comparison with the current index", adding its PER is low by comparison with the major part of Asia countries without mentioning the United States and Japan. KOSDAQ also which has posted high rise rate for the second time all over the world stock market showing about 80% rapid bull market, expects a bull market this year. Daewoo Securities and Kiwoom.com Securities forecast that KOSDAQ index would rise up to the highest 1000 point. In particular, KOSDAQ companies' stock price level improvement associated with IT new technology is expected to look better. Equipment, parts, service stocks related with WiBro, RFID, and DMB etc. are expected to settle as new leading themes. However, a cautious approach also rather than optimism, on one hand, is necessary as some negative factors such as foreigner sales and delivery and exchange rates as well as international oil price's fluctuation enlargement remain. On the other hand, leading stocks in the New Year are expected to be IT stocks since this year's global IT indexes are improving and convergence product launching based on new technology will bring corporate performance improvement along with stock price bull market. Research center chiefs at each securities companies said: "This year's stock market at home will show a bull trend beyond last year's high mark and is expected to continue its bull basis till after 2007."
