Song Kwan-ho, president of National Internet Development Agency of Korea (NIDA) During the next decade or so, the household name in the IT field shall be none other than "ubiquitous." A variety of technologies and cultures will also be put on display in 2006 for the ubiquitous era.
Under such circumstances, the National Internet Development Agency of Korea (NIDA) will faithfully execute its basic task of stably managing and operating Internet addresses such as 'kr' domains and IP addresses. At the same time, it will focus on developing future network technologies, such as RFID and IPv6, and actively assist the government in its pursuit of the 'IT839' project launched for the ubiquitous network era. And, in so doing will NIDA take the lead for the nation to be regenerated and stand at the forefront in bringing in the future society of the world. Furthermore, NIDA will actively take part in the decision making of international bodies concerned with the major issues related with the Internet and raise Korea's role in the global stage, while strengthening its Internet governance home and abroad. Along with this, NIDA plans to make contributions in the setting up of government policies on the Internet through indepth research on issues and statistical data related with the Internet. It will also take the lead in protecting the rights by resolving conflicts over Internet addresses. In 2006, too, I hope that the Korean people can show undiminished interest and support. Thank you.
