SAUDI ARABIA - Samsung Engineering announced on December 20 that it signed an official contract with Saline Water Conversion Corp. (SWCC) for the Yanbu Power Plant Phase 3 project in Saudi Arabia.
Samsung Engineering and consortium partners Al Toukhi and Shanghai Electric received a letter of agreement concerning the plant construction from SWCC on December 8.
This project is to build a 3,100-megawatt power plant in Al-Madinah Province and will supply electricity to the Yanbu Industrial Complex after the project is completed in December 2016.
Samsung Engineering will be responsible for the building of fuel supply equipment, the design of auxiliary facilities, and the construction of boilers and turbine generators, on a lump-sum turnkey basis, with a contract value of $1.5 billion.

삼성엔지니어링, 사우디 화력발전플랜트 최종 계약
삼성엔지니어링은 지난 19일(현지시간) 사우디아라비아 담수청에서 30억달러(약 3조2000억원) 규모의 얀부 제3발전 플랜트를 최종 수주하는 계약식을 가졌다고 20일 발표했다.
삼성엔지니어링, 중국 상하이전기집단, 사우디 알투키 컨소시엄은 지난 8일 사우디담수청에서 플랜트 공사에 대한 수주통보서(LOA)를 받았다. 이 프로젝트는 사우디 남부 최대 규모의 얀부 산업단지에 필요한 약 3100㎿급 화력 발전소를 2016년 12월까지 건설하는 것이다.
삼성엔지니어링은 이 중 연료공급기기, 보조설비 설계, 보일러와 터빈발전기 등의 시공을 맞는다. 삼성 측의 수주 금액은 15억달러다.
박기석 삼성엔지니어링 사장은 “중동 시장의 메이저 발전 플레이어로 자리매김해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
