At the end of the year, Samsung Electronics is likely to take the No. 1 position in North America in terms of TV market share. This is the seventh straight year for which the company grabs the top position.
According to the NPD Group, a consumer market researcher, on December 23, the Korean company took a 33.6-percent share in the North American flat panel TV market during the month of November. This is the highest monthly market share figure 4.5 percent higher than the previous month.
Samsung's cumulative share for the 11 months of the year has been 29.8 percent, which is expected to break the 30-percent barrier before the year's end.
Samsung took the top position in all TV sub-categories including LCD TV (30.6%), LED TV (43.7%), Smart TV (37.5%), 3D TV (44.5%), and plasma TV (61.9%).
The factors behind Samsung's strong November sales performance include the brisk sales of TV models during the Black Friday shopping season immediately following Thanksgiving Day, helping the company gain more than 10 percentage points in market share.
