SEOUL, KOREA – Hollys Coffee, a Korean specialty coffee and tea chain, announced on December 24 that it set up a local unit “Hollys China” through a master franchise agreement with China’s Donlim Group.
This agreement will enable Hollys Coffee to speed up its business expansion in China. Under terms of the agreement, the company will be responsible for menu development and marketing, while Donlim Group will be in charge of chain development and operations.
The two parties will open a 2,000-square-meter store at the OCT Bay in Shenzhen in May 2013. They plan to open more than 100 locations by 2014 throughout China. At present, Hollys Coffee runs one store each in Shenzhen and Beijing.
A Hollys Coffee official said, “We will make bigger forays into China with localization strategy through a close partnership with Donlim Group.” As of now, Hollys Coffee runs a total of seven locations overseas, including two in China, three in the Philippines, and two in Peru.

할리스커피, 중국 시장 진출 박차
할리스커피는 이달 2일 중국 동링그룹과 마스터프랜차이즈 계약을 맺고 '할리스유한공사차이나'를 설립했다고 24일 밝혔다.
이번 계약으로 할리스커피는 중국 사업에 속도를 낼 수 있게 됐다. 할리스커피는 메뉴 개발과 마케팅을, 동링그룹은 매장 개발과 운영을 담당한다.
이들은 내년 5월 선전의 대규모 복합문화시설 'OCT Bay'에 2000㎡(605평) 규모로 매장을 연다. 오는 2014년까지 100개 이상의 매장을 열 계획이다. 현재 할리스커피는 중국 선전과 베이징에서 매장을 1개씩 운영하고 있다.
신상철 할리스커피 대표는 "동링그룹과의 파트너십을 통한 현지화 전략으로 중국시장을 공략할 것" 이라며 "앞으로 해외 전역에 적극 진출해 커피 한류를 이끄는 대한민국 대표 브랜드로 성장하겠다"고 말했다.
현재 할리스커피는 중국에 2개 매장을 비롯해 필리핀 3개, 페루 2개 등 총 7개의 해외 매장을 운영하고 있다.
