SEOUL, KOREA – POSCO Engineering received a chemical plant order worth $150 million (approximately 168 billion won) from Thailand’s largest petrochemical company PTT Global Chemical Public Company (PTTGC) on December 26.
The project is to build an ethylene plant inside a Map Ta Phut industrial complex, 180 km away from the Thai capital of Bangkok. POSCO Engineering obtained the order on a turn-key basis ranging from design to construction and pilot operations. The chemical plant is scheduled to be completed by February 2015.
In the meantime, POSCO Engineering held a board of directors’ meeting on December 20 wherein it decided to sell its Bundang building to Mega Asset, a subsidiary of POSCO Construction, for 68.5 billion won. POSCO Engineering posted sales revenue of 980.3 billion won and a net profit of 40 billion won last year, with its 2011 order receipts estimated at 1,658 billion won.

포스코엔, 태국서 1680억원 플랜트 수주
포스코엔지니어링이 26일 태국 최대 석유화학 업체인 PTTGC가 발주한 1억5000만달러(약 1680억원) 규모의 화공 플랜트 공사를 수주했다. 이번 프로젝트는 태국 수도 방콕에서 180㎞ 떨어진 라용시 맙타풋 정유석유화학 단지 안에 에틸렌 등을 생산하는 공정설비 공사다. 설계·공사·시운전을 일괄도급계약(턴키) 방식으로 진행한다. 2015년 2월 준공 예정이다.
한편 포스코엔지니어링은 지난 20일 이사회를 열고 분당 사옥을 포스코건설 계열사인 메가에셋에 685억원에 매각키로 결정했다. 발전·에너지·화공 플랜트를 설계·시공하는 포스코엔지니어링은 지난해 수주 1조6582억원, 매출 9803억원, 당기순이익 400억원을 기록했다
