SEOUL, KOREA – SK Telecom announced on January 6 that it will cooperate with China’s largest telecom company China Mobile in LBS business area.
SK Telecom will provide China Mobile with LBS-related technology and service consulting. SK Telecom also plans to build a RTTI (Real-time Traffic Information) solution in Shenyang in China.
RTTI is a solution to provide traffic information on a real time basis by using mobile telecommunication base stations.
An SK Telecom official said, “Through LBS cooperation with China Mobile, we secured a bridgehead to make forays into the world’s largest mobile telecommunication market.”

SK텔레콤, 중국 LBS 시장 진출
SK텔레콤은 중국 최대 통신사인 차이나모바일과 중국 현지 위치기반서비스(LBS)사업에서 협력하기로 했다고 6일 발표했다.
SK텔레콤은 앞으로 차이나모바일에 LBS 관련 기술 및 서비스 컨설팅을 제공할 계획이다. 또 이동통신 기지국을 활용해 실시간 교통 정보를 파악하는 RTTI(Real Time Traffic Information) 솔루션을 중국 선양(瀋陽) 지역에 시범적으로 구축한다.
SK텔레콤은 “차이나모바일과 LBS 사업 협력을 통해 세계 최대 이동통신 시장에 본격적으로 진출할 수 있는 교두보를 확보했다”고 말했다.
