OSLO, NORWAY - Hyundai Heavy Industries said on January 20 that it has won a US$1.1-billion project to build a large-scale gas production platform from Norway's Statoil. The 21,000-ton platform is capable of producing 23 million cubic meter of gas and oil. It will be installed on a cylindrical substructure to be built jointly with Technip of France.
The project will be undertaken on an EPIC basis in which Hyundai Heavy will take all the responsibilities from engineering, procurement, installation, and construction.
The company will install the platform by March 2016 in the depth of 1,300 meters at the offshore Aasta Hansteen gas field near the Arctic Circle (at 66.5 degrees north latitude). Kim Jong-do, head of the offshore business division with Hyundai Heavy Industries, said, "We will focus our business effort on getting additional projects in the North Sea."

현대重, 노르웨이서 11억弗 수주
현대중공업은 노르웨이 스탯오일에서 11억달러(약 1조1600억원) 규모의 초대형 가스생산플랫폼을 수주했다고 20일 발표했다.
이 플랫폼은 2만1000ｔ 규모로 하루 2300만㎥의 가스와 원유를 생산할 수 있다. 지난해 프랑스 테크닙과 공동으로 수주한 원통형 하부구조물 위에 설치된다. 현대중공업이 설계·구매·제작·설치를 모두 맡는 일괄도급방식(EPIC)으로 공사를 진행한다.
현대중공업은 플랫폼이 북해의 강한 파도와 영하권 추위에 견딜 수 있도록 최첨단 공정관리를 적용할 계획이다. 노르웨이 해양산업표준규정(Norsok)에 따라 제작, 오는 2016년 3월께 북극선(북위 66.5도) 근처인 아스타 한스틴 필드 수심 1.3㎞ 해상에 설치할 예정이다. 김종도 현대중공업 해양사업본부장은 “향후 추가 발주가 예상되는 북해 지방 해상플랜트 프로젝트를 수주하는 데 영업력을 집중할 것”이라고 말했다.
