SEOUL, KOREA - Kim Choong-soo, governor of the Bank of Korea, made remarks that the global economy has stepped out of the crisis, showing the possibility of a recovery.
On January 22, the central bank governor said this in a meeting discussing economic trends at its main office, adding, "Lately discussions on the world economy are no longer about pointing fingers but about what to do to work together."
"Only a few years ago, the main theme in G20 meetings was blaming other parties for causing the crisis. As you can see the theme of this year's Davos Forum is 'resilient dynamism,' talking about international cooperation is now the zeitgeist," he said.
He also commented, "Considering it was only a year ago when protesters occupied Wall Street, it is clear we have come so far away from the crisis. I believe there will be more future-oriented agendas coming out this year."

김중수 한은 총재 "글로벌 경제위기 한걸음 벗어나"
김중수 한국은행 총재(사진)는 세계 경제가 위기에서 한 발짝 더 나아갔다며 경기회복에 대한 기대감을 나타냈다.
김 총재는 22일 서울 한은 본관에서 열린 경제동향간담회에서 최근 세계 경제에 대한 논의가 금융위기의 잘잘못을 따지는 단계를 넘어 공조를 이야기하는 데까지 왔다고 평가하며 이같이 말했다.
그는 “과거 3~4년 전까지도 주요 20개국(G20) 회의에서 (위기가 서로의 탓이라고) 비난하기만 했다”며 “그러나 이번 다보스포럼 주제가 경제회복을 위한 ‘불굴의 역동성(resilient dynamism)’인 것처럼 이제는 국제 협력을 논하는 것이 시대의 기운(정신)”이라고 말했다.
이어 “지난해 노벨상을 받은 학자들의 연구 주제가 새로운 시장을 창출해 경제주체 간 협력을 꾀하는 내용”이라며 “이 역시 금융위기 후의 시대정신을 반영한다”고 설명했다.
그는 “뉴욕 월가에 시위대가 등장했던 것이 불과 1년 전인 점을 고려하면 이젠 (과거의 위기 수습단계에서) 한 발짝 더 나아간 것”이라며 “올해는 세계 경제에 더 밝고 미래지향적인 과제들이 나오지 않을까 생각한다”고 덧붙였다.
