QWERTY Phones When people see the term "QWERTY phone" in a newspaper, they typically think it is a typo but there really are mobile phones, which deserve such an eccentric title.
The QWERTY phone refers to a model equipped with a computer-like keyboard to meet the growing need to input many letters into cell phones in a short time.
For businessmen who need to send text messages or e-mail en masse on the move, conventional cell phone keypads are too small and error-prone for fast typing.
QWERTY is the most common layout of letters on most English-language computers. It takes its name from the first six letters shown on the keyboard's top row of letters. Samsung Electronics, the world's third-largest cell phone producer, unveiled its QWERTY phone, the MITs SCH-i730, early this year during the Consumer Electronics Show.
There are many sorts of QWERTY devices other than cell phones, like personal digital assistants and other electronic terminals, which employ keyboard input systems.
