SEOUL, KOREA - STIC Investments will enter the market for mergers and acquisitions of large corporations. Although STIC is a private equity fund management firm with over 1 trillion won under management, it has thus far focused mostly on gross capital investments by which it purchased a stake in a company and sell it off after an IPO or a rise in corporate value.
According to investment banking sources on February 4, STIC Investments is looking for companies or business units to purchase. It is based on a strategy of taking over a controlling stake in non-essential assets of large corporations.
A STIC Investments official said, "We have had experience and know-how in gross capital investment and it is time to move onto buyout area. We are thinking about taking over manufacturing firms and business divisions."
