SEOUL, KOREA – Korea’s database industry has broken the 11 trillion mark and the number of database industry workers rose 11,019 year-on-year to 231,659.
On Wednesday, Korea Database Agency (KDB) announced that the Korean database industry gained 6% year-on-year to KRW 11 trillion, three times higher than Korea’s 2012 GDP growth of 2%, released by the Bank of Korea.
Along with the database building sector, all the segments of the market including database consulting, solutions and database services posted a year-on-year growth.
By sector, the database building sector went up 6.5% to KRW 4.5 trillion thanks to Korea’s increased investment in big data processing.
The database consulting and solution sector jumped 10.2% year-on-year to KRW 2 trillion, pushed up by the application of big data technology. Above all, the DBMS (database management system) sector, which soared 22% year-on-year to KRW 521 billion, has led the growth of the database consulting and solution sector.
