SEOUL, KOREA – APPLASMA, a Korean developer of atmospheric plasma, has advanced into the G2 touch screen panel (TSP) market with its argon plasma surface coating device.
Argon plasma devices, which are more efficient than existing nitrogen devices, had failed to penetrate the TSP market owing to pricey argon (the price of argon is over 2.5 times higher than that of nitrogen). APPLASMA looks to unseat nitrogen plasma devices with its argon plasma device that reduced the use of argon to a greater degree.
On Tuesday, APPLASMA said it last year sold two argon plasma devices to a Korean G2 manufacturer.
APPLASMA’s argon plasma device gets rids of impurities, such as dust and organic matters, on the surface in atmospheric pressure, thereby enhancing the efficiency of coating, evaporation and manufacturing.
TSP manufacturers have thus far used devices that wash the surface with water or nitrogen plasma devices. These devices’ capability for surface treatment has left much to be desired, so they are not cut out for G2 manufacturing.
