Seoul, Korea - SK Hynix is planning to implement a Global Single Instance (GSI) ERP by standardizing and consolidating the ERPs used by 11 overseas sales branches (including one R&D center) and production plants to speed up and optimize the timeliness of decision making process.
The chipmaker announced on the 14th that it has been reviewing the plan since last year and set up the dedicated team earlier this month to push the project through in full force. SK Hynix scheduled the completion of ERP integration between its Korea headquarters and the U.S. sales branch by Q2 next year and plans to include the rest of sales branches and the Chinese production plant by Q1, 2015.
The process integration is to take place in every area of the chipmaking business. A global standard process is to be applied, and the project scope covers sales, production, procurement, delivery and inventory management processes. Account closing process is also to be integrated.
To ensure timely availability of information, the company plans to implement a real-time monitoring of sales, inventory and delivery status. Total cost of ownership information including both tangible and intangible costs and HR processes will be managed by the integrated ERP.
Multinational companies with overseas presence were the first ones to adopt GSI ERP, and many Korean manufacturing and logistics companies including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Pantos Logistics have followed suit.

SK하이닉스가 글로벌 전사자원관리(ERP) 시스템을 하나로 묶는 글로벌싱글인스턴스(GSI) ERP 프로젝트에 나섰다. 해외 11개 판매법인(기술법인 1곳 포함)과 생산법인 ERP를 표준화·통합해 의사결정 속도를 높이고 시장 적시성을 확보하는 게 목표다.
SK하이닉스는 전사 경쟁력을 확보하고 운영 효율화를 위한 다양한 과제를 진행 중이며 그 일환으로 `글로벌 ERP 프로젝트`를 추진한다고 14일 밝혔다. 지난해부터 검토를 해왔으며 이달 초 전담조직을 꾸리고 본격적으로 프로젝트에 착수했다.
대상이 되는 곳은 미국·독일·영국·일본·싱가포르·인도·홍콩·대만·중국 상해·중국 우시·이탈리아(기술법인)에 위치한 11개 판매법인과 우시에 위치한 생산법인이다. 내년 2분기까지 한국 본사와 미국 판매법인 ERP 통합 작업을 완료한다. 이후 2015년 1분기까지 나머지 판매법인과 우시 생산법인에 확대 구축한다는 전략이다.
추진 범위는 재경, 영업·물류, 구매·자재, 장비·설비, 인사 등 5개 영역이다. 재경 분야에서는 기준정보 표준화가 추진된다. 회계 계정 코드 표준화, 기준정보 관리 체계 개선 등이 목표다.
프로세스 통합은 전 영역을 아우른다. 모든 분야에 글로벌 표준 프로세스를 적용하고 판매(S)·생산(P) 수급계획-투입-재고관리에 이르는 프로세스를 개선한다. 결산 프로세스도 하나로 통합한다.
정보 적시성 확보를 위해서 글로벌 판매·재고·물류정보의 실시간 파악이 가능하도록 할 계획이다. 장비도입 단가 등 단순 비용뿐만 아니라 운영·관리비용 등 눈에 보이지 않는 부분까지 포함한 장비 총소유비용(TCO) 관리 체계를 확립한다. 글로벌 통합 인사관리시스템도 구축한다.
SK하이닉스는 기준정보 표준화와 본사·법인 간 프로세스 통합으로 경영정보 적시성과 신뢰성 확보를 기대한다. 시스템 통합을 강화해 운영 효율성도 향상될 전망이다.
SK하이닉스 측은 “이번 프로젝트는 글로벌 경영환경 변화에 신속하게 대응하기 위해 본사와 법인 간 기준정보와 프로세스를 표준화하는 게 목적”이라며 “글로벌 인력관리 체계와 장비·설비 통합관리로 글로벌 기업에 맞는 경쟁력과 운영 효율성을 확보할 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
GSI ERP는 해외 법인을 운영하는 다국적기업에서 먼저 시작됐다. 최근에는 삼성전자와 LG전자, 현대상선, 범한판토스 등 국내 제조·물류 기업들로 확산되는 추세다.
