SEOUL, KOREA – The mobile industry’s 2013 keyword is “NEXT.” At the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, stated to be held in Spain on February 25 through 28, global companies are expected to showcase their new information communications technologies (ICT) revolving around NEXT (an acronym made up of the following words- New operating systems, an Ecosystem created by the mobile industry, eXperiences and the Transformation of mobile carriers from network operators to bona fide service providers).
NEXT is the key to opening the “New Mobile Horizon,” the official slogan of the MWC 2013.
New web-based operating systems are emerging such as Tizen (offered by the Tizen Association led by Samsung Electronics and Intel), Mozilla Firefox and the Linux-based Ubuntu operating system.
The mobile ecosystem that has been broadened by the spread of mobile devices will further grow on the back of apps. App services are projected to move beyond online boundaries to off-line services.
Mobile user experiences will further diversify - for instance, NFC-enabled ticket issuance, payments and coupons. Besides, smartphones with a 5-inch full HD screen will take mobile multimedia experiences to new heights.
Furthermore, global mobile operators will discuss LTE-Advanced and TD-LTE services that outsmart LTE.
