SEOUL, KOREA - SK is rolling up its sleeves to find skilled ICT workers from abroad. Unlike its energy, development and semiconductor sectors, the area of ICT was only for the domestic demand. But now the company is fixing its eyes on the global ICT market.
“We’ve decided to hold an expert forum in Silicon Valley, which was first held last year, four times a year on a regular basis,” said an official from SK on Feb. 17. In November last year, SK initiated a forum with 40 Korean experts from relevant industries and academic communities in Silicon Valley. The official also added, “About 100 people will participate in each forum. And we will have a finance forum in New York as well. We believe such forums will lead us to the network of capable local workers.”
An integrated DB system of ‘Global Talent Net’ has been established to recruit outstanding foreign individuals. Through such a system, SK’s affiliates including its ICT sector will share information on skilled foreign workers. SK also secured some 1,500 new recruits from 24 foreign colleges in 21 local areas last year.
SK, 해외 ICT 인재 확보 드라이브
SK가 해외 정보통신기술(ICT) 인재 영입에 팔을 걷어붙인다. 에너지·개발·반도체 분야와는 달리 비교적 내수 위주였던 ICT 분야에서도 글로벌 시장 진출을 강화하겠다는 포석이다.
SK 고위관계자는 17일 “지난해 처음 열었던 실리콘밸리 전문가포럼을 1년에 네 차례 정례화할 것”이라고 밝혔다. SK는 지난해 11월 실리콘밸리에서 산·학계 한인 전문가 40여명과 처음으로 전문가 포럼을 열었다. 하성민 SK텔레콤 대표·박성욱 SK하이닉스 연구개발총괄 등이 직접 참석했다.
이 관계자는 “포럼당 100여명이 참석하며, ICT 분야 외에 뉴욕에서는 금융 관련 포럼도 열 것”이라며 “포럼당 100여명이 많지 않을 수 있지만, 이들을 통해 현지의 많은 인재와 네트워크로 이어질 수 있다”고 설명했다.
`글로벌 탤런트 네트(Global Talent Net)`라는 해외 인재 통합 데이터베이스(DB) 시스템도 구축했다. ICT 분야를 비롯해 모든 계열사들이 해외 인재 정보를 공유하는 시스템이다. 해외 현지 캠퍼스 리크루팅도 확대해 지난해 21개 지역 24개 대학교를 대상으로 1500여명의 우수 인재를 확보했다.
SK 관계자는 “이들의 경력, 연구에 대해 꾸준히 관리를 해주며 SK형 인재로 양성할 것”이라면서 “연간 2회씩 해외 리크루팅을 진행할 계획”이라고 말했다. SK는 최근 그룹 경영을 총괄하는 수펙스추구협의회에 인재 양성을 총괄할 `인재육성위원회`도 만들었다. 위원장은 김창근 수펙스추구협의회 의장이 겸임한다.
