Projects to Build Renewable Energy Test Beds Gain Traction

SEOUL, KOREA – Renewable energy test bed projects, which support the commercialization of technologies and products developed by Korean renewable energy companies, have been given much-needed impetus.

On the solar power front, a total of KRW 29.9 billion will be invested in Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute (GERI)’s solar power test bed project in Daegu and North Gyeongsang. The goal of solar power test bed projects in Chungcheong-do is to build key infrastructures designed to test technologies and products developed by solar power companies.

As for wind power, KRW 16.2 billion will be poured into wind power system test bed projects in South Jeolla Province by 2014 to build infrastructures that will enable the tests, evaluation and certification of wind power generator systems.

Also, a total of KRW 18.7 billion will be ploughed into the fuel cell test bed project in Daegu and North Gyeongsang, organized by Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTEC).
