SEOUL, KOREA – The Korean energy industry is keen to make overseas market entry through its convergence model (energy storage systems (ESS) + photovoltaic (PV) + secondary batteries).
On Thursday, industrial insiders said, “Companies are busy rolling out various products that combine ESSs with PV generators to take on overseas markets including Japan. These products vary by purpose from camping, households to large discount stores.
A general ESS/PV product stores electricity produced from its solar power generator in its ESS to power up various facilities and devices later.
A Korean secondary battery producer is currently developing a home ESS to open an account with a famous electricity company in Japan. Being connected to home energy management systems (HEMS), its home ESS will enable real-time checks of home electricity consumption and electricity bills.
The Japanese electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure industry is expected to adopt products manufactured by Korean companies. Some Korean company will unveil an ESS/PV product that doubles as an EV charger in a bid to sign a contract with Japan’s large distributor.
