SEOUL, KOREA – Competition has intensified in the Korean firewall market as a growing number of Korean and foreign companies have tried to replace their traditional firewalls with new ones.

On Monday, industry insiders said, firewall developers are fully committed to the release of new products and the reinforcement of their marketing activities so as to meet increased demand.

Fortinet Korea, a provider of network security appliances, has launched a next-generation firewall called “FortiGate-3600C” to target large companies and MSSPs (Managed Security Service Providers). MozenSoft has also put its new 240Gbps firewall on the market.

Next-generation firewalls refer to solutions that foil external attacks relying on the vulnerabilities of social networking services and application services. In contrast to existing port-based firewalls, next-generation firewalls recognize social networking services and applications.

In a situation where social networking services are heavily utilized as a means of enhancing corporate productivity, demand for more effective firewalls has been newly created.

The Korean next-generation market seems to be carved up among Paloalto Networks, Fortinet Korea, Dell Korea, Secui. com Corporation and Future Systems.
