SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics is going to introduce the ‘WCP-300’, the world’s smallest wireless charger with only 6.98㎝ in diameter. The slim and sleek wireless charger is designed to maximize portability. Despite its compact size, the charging area is 1.7 times wider than that of the company’s existing charger, providing the utmost charging efficiency.
The new charger uses magnetic induction technology and has obtained the certification of ‘Qi’, the standard of wireless charging, by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The new charger supports all smart phones manufactured based on the standard.
Magnetic induction creates a magnetic field around the pad’s coil, which in turn sends an electric current to the mobile phone to charge its battery. The local home appliances maker is a major member of the WPC, leading the technical standard of wireless charging in the world.
Newly-released smart phones of the company, including ‘Optimus G Pro’, ‘Optimus View 2’ and ‘Optimus LTE 2’, have a built-in function for wireless charging.

LG전자가 세계에서 가장 작은 무선충전기 `WCP-300`을 출시한다. `WCP-300`은 지름 6.98㎝로 세계 최소형 무선충전기다. 얇고 매끈한 원형 디자인으로 휴대성을 극대화했다. 작은 사이즈에도 불구하고 기존 제품 대비 충전 가능 면적이 1.7배 넓어져 충전 효율이 극대화됐다.
이 제품은 자기유도 방식을 채택해 세계무선전력협회(WPC: Wireless Power Consortium)의 무선 충전 표준 `치(Qi)`인증을 받았다. 규격에 따라 제작된 스마트폰은 모두 충전이 가능하다.
자기유도 방식은 패드의 코일 주변에 자기장을 만들어 휴대폰에 전류를 흘려 배터리를 충전하는 방식이다. LG전자는 세계무선전력협회 주요 회원으로 세계 무선충전 기술표준을 주도하고 있다.
LG전자는 최근 출시한 `옵티머스G 프로` `옵티머스뷰2` `옵티머스 LTE 2` 등에 무선충전 기능을 탑재했다.
특히 `넥서스4`와 북미 시장에 출시한 `스펙트럼 2`는 무선충전기능을 기본 탑재해 별도의 배터리 커버 구매 없이도 무선충전이 가능하다.
