SEOUL, KOREA – Founded in February of last year, the Korea Green Technology Research Association (hereafter “KGTRA”) is emerging as the driving force behind the revitalization of the renewable energy industry. In Busan, the KGTRA has embarked on a solar roofing project that encourages voluntary participation from local companies.
In collaboration with Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO), the KGTRA plans to build 10,000kW solar power facilities in the Hwajeon Industrial Complex in Busan within the first half of this year. Consultations with companies operating in the Complex are underway.
In addition, the KGTRA aims to install a 10,000kW solar power plant at the Mium Industrial Complex in Busan.
Under the solar roofing project, green-minded companies will lease their factory roofs to solar power operators, which then will install solar panels on the roofs to generate solar power. Participating companies can make money by renting their roofs and they can also use the solar facilities even after the termination of leases.
