SEOUL, KOREA - The Organizing Committee for Seoul Motor Show 2013 held a press conference on February 27, a month before the opening of Seoul Motor Show 2013. At the press conference, held at Lotte Hotel Seoul located in Sogong-dong, the ongoing preparations for Seoul Motor Show 2013 and a list of exhibition items were revealed.

Under the theme of “With Nature, for the People,” Seoul Motor Show 2013 will be open to the public at KINTEX in Ilsan for ten days from March 29 to April 7. The Press Day is slated for February 28.

A total of 331 companies from 13 nations will participate in Seoul Motor Show 2013, making the show the world’s largest-ever auto festival. Above all, nine new models will make their market debut at the show for the first time in the world. In addition, ten new models will be unveiled for the first time in Asia and 18 new models will be introduced for the first time in Korea. Therefore, Seoul Motor Show 2013 will be decked with a total of 42 new models.

Myriads of exhibits, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheeled cars, fuel cells, tire, auto parts and bicycles, are in the wings. Furthermore, in line with Seoul Motor Show 2013’s theme, 34 eco-friendly vehicles like electric vehicles, hybrids and fuel cell-powered vehicles will be put on display. And a total of 15 future-oriented concept cars are on standby to catch the eye of the Seoul Motor Show 2013 crowd.

The 9th Seoul Motor Show will park a plethora of exhibits at KINTEX’s 1st and 2nd Exhibition Centers, the combined size of which amounts to 102,431㎡, equivalent to the size of 15 football fields combined. The Organizing Committee said, thanks to the opening of KINTEX’s 2nd Exhibition Center, the chronic space shortages will be addressed, thereby making the 9th Seoul Motor Show twice bigger in size than its predecessors.

The opening of Seoul Motor Show 2013 will coincide with Automotive Week 2013, slated to be held at the Aftermarket Special Exhibition (Location: Hall 7-8 of the KINTEX 2nd Exhibition Center). By doing so, Seoul Motor Show 2013 will become an overarching event that encompasses even the automotive aftermarket.

The International ITS Seminar, scheduled to be held during Seoul Motor Show 2013, will look into where the convergence of auto technologies and IT stands now. The Organizing Committee said a slew of events will be held on the sidelines of Seoul Motor Show 2013 – for instance, an exhibition of the winners of College Student Self-made Car Contest, Eco-Friendly Vehicle Riding Event and Korea Car Photography Exhibition (which was well received by visitors back in 2009).

“Since 1995, the Seoul Motor Show has spearheaded the development of the Korean auto industry. This year, it is expected to generate a total of KRW one trillion in economic effects by attracting 1.2 million visitors and 15,000 international buyers,” said Kwan Young Soo, Chair of the Organizing Committee for Seoul Motor Show 2013.

Admission is KRW 10,000 for adults and college students and KRW 7,000 for elementary, middle and high school students. Through online ticket booking (available from March 4 through 20) at Auction Ticket (ticket.auction.co.kr), adults and college students can buy tickets at KRW 8,000 and elementary, middle and high school students at KRW 5, 000.
