Seoul, Korea - The companies of all sizes were found to have quite high hopes on the new administration for the economic recovery.
The result of business survey index (BSI) study conducted by Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) on the top 600 companies showed that the BSI for March marked 104.4, passing 100 mark in recent 10 months. Since the BSI passed 100 mark to 104.7 in May last year, it stayed in the 80s to 90s.
The BSI prospect for February surveyed last month stood well below 100, staying at 86.7. FKI analyzed the up-shift to have occurred “because the businesses grew their expectations on economic recovery with the start of new administration that placed highest priority on creating job-centric economy and with the agenda of 2nd Obama Administration, ‘revival of manufacturing industry and creation of job.’”
However, it added that it is too early to believe this upturn to be the strong signal of recovery, because of the lackluster economic indicators in the overseas markets.
The BSI survey on small-to-medium companies also rose after 5 months of decline. The survey was conducted by Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Kbiz) on 1,399 SMEs in manufacturing business, and the March Small Business Health Index (SBHI) was found to have increased to the highest point since October last year (88.6), by 5 points to 87.2. Kbiz analyzed the cause of bounce during the continued economic slump to be the hopes of businesses that the new administration will support the economy while the end of slow season is coming near.

새 정부 출범으로 대·중소기업 경기 회복 기대치가 매우 높은 것으로 파악됐다.
전국경제인연합회가 매출액 기준 600대 기업 대상으로 기업경기실사지수(BSI)를 조사한 결과 3월 전망치가 104.4로 10개월 만에 기준선 100을 넘었다. BSI 전망치는 지난해 5월 104.7을 마지막으로 80~90대에 그쳤다.
지난달 조사한 2월 BSI 전망치도 86.7이었다. 전경련은 “일자리 중심의 창조경제를 핵심 국정목표로 하는 새 정부 출범과 `제조업 부활과 일자리 창출`을 천명한 미국 오바마 대통령 국정운영 방침으로 기업 경기회복 기대감이 커진 결과”라고 분석했다. 다만 해외 경제지표 부진이 남아 있어 이 같은 전망을 본격적인 경기 회복으로 보기는 어렵다고 덧붙였다.
부문별로는 내수(112.7), 수출(106.6), 투자(101.3), 고용(100.7), 채산성(102.0) 모두 기준치를 넘었다. 반면 자금 사정(97.4)은 부정적이었다. 2월 기업경기실사지수는 83.0에 그쳤다. 전달인 1월의 85.0보다도 내려갔다.
중소기업 경기전망 지수도 5개월 만에 상승했다. 중소기업중앙회가 중소 제조업체 1399개사를 대상으로 조사한 것으로 3월 업황전망건강도지수(SBHI)가 전월보다 5.0포인트 오른 87.2였다. 작년 10월(88.6) 이후 가장 높은 수치다. 중기중앙회는 “경기 침체에도 새 정부 경기 부양 기대감과 계절적 비수기 종료에 따른 기대 심리가 반영된 것으로 보인다”고 분석했다.
부문별로는 경공업은 86.4, 중화학공업은 88.0으로 전월보다 각각 4.2포인트, 5.9포인트 상승했다. 항목별 지수를 보면 생산(81.3→91.4), 내수(79.3→89.3), 수출(82.2→89.7), 경상이익(78.3→86.1), 자금사정(80.4→84.3), 원자재조달사정(93.1→95.8) 등 전 부문에서 전월보다 올랐다.
