Seoul, Korea - SK Telecom announced on the 5th that it received Web Accessibility Certificate from The Human Rights Forum of Persons with Disabilities in Korea (a.k.a. The Able Forum) for renovating its online customer service center, T World (www.tworld.co.kr), for an easy access and use of the website by the disabled and the elderly.
SK Telecom had been renovating the T World website since last September to provide easy access to the site for the visually impaired, the physically disabled and the aged under its Korean Style Web Contents Accessibility Guideline 2.0.
The online customer service center was ranked within 30 websites most preferred by the disabled. With the latest renovation, the users will be able to autonomousy take care of their businesses related to the mobile phone service, such as sign-up, profile review and information inquiry.
SJ Bang, the head of Customer-Centric Management Division at SK Telecom, emphasized, “the certificate symbolizes SK Telecom’s efforts to provide the customers with highest customer value - everybody being able to use the mobile telecommunication service with no barriers” and promised that the company will keep improving its customer channels, so that the socially weak will not be discriminated.

SK텔레콤(대표 하성민)은 장애인과 고령자를 비롯한 모든 고객이 온라인 고객센터 T월드(www.tworld.co.kr)를 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 개선하고, 국내 이동통신사 최초로 한국장애인 인권포럼으로부터 `웹 접근성 인증마크`를 획득했다고 5일 밝혔다.
SK텔레콤은 지난해 9월부터 시각장애인, 지체장애인, 고령자의 사이트 접근과 이용에 불편함이 없도록 `한국형 웹 콘텐츠 접근성 지침 2.0`에 따라 T월드 홈페이지를 개편했다. 온라인 T월드는 지난해 장애인 이용 선호도 30위 이내의 사이트로, 이번 개선으로 장애인도 불편 없이 서비스 가입·조회·상품안내 등 다양한 이동통신 업무를 처리할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
방성제 SK텔레콤 고객중심경영실장은 “웹 접근성 인증마크 획득은 전 국민이 차별 없이 이동통신 서비스를 사용토록 하는 최고의 고객가치 제공 노력의 결실”이라며 “모든 고객 채널에서 사회적 약자가 불편을 겪지 않도록 부족한 점을 찾아 지속적으로 개선해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
