SEOUL, KOREA – Games on NHN’s mobile massager “LINE” have broken the 100 million threshold in cumulative downloads in seven months. With LINE catching on in Japan and Southeast Asian markets, LINE games seem to have ridden on the coattails of LINE’s popularity.
NHN Japan said Wednesday that 16 LINE games topped the 100 million mark in accumulated downloads on March 10.
Starting with the launch of LINE Birzzle in July of last year, LINE has unveiled four casual games including Line POP, which was launched in November of 2012.
LINE games ranked first in app stores’ total free app rankings chart and in the game category in 12 nations. At the Google Play Store, they came out on top in the total free app rankings chart in 10 nations and in the game category in 14 nations.
Recently, domestic hits like “Dragon Flight” and “Wind Runner” have ranked high on app charts, raising their chances of success.

`라인 게임` 7개월 만에 누적 다운로드 1억 달성
NHN 모바일 메신저 `라인` 게임들이 서비스 7개월 만에 15배 성장한 누적 다운로드 1억건을 돌파했다. 일본과 동남아 시장을 중심으로 라인이 인기를 끌면서 라인 브랜드를 단 게임들도 자연스럽게 관심을 얻었다는 분석이다.
NHN재팬은 라인 게임으로 선보인 16종 게임이 지난 10일 기준 누적 다운로드 1억건을 돌파했다고 13일 밝혔다. 앱스토어와 플레이스토어 수치를 합친 결과다.
라인 게임은 지난해 7월 `라인 버즐`을 시작으로 `라인 팝` 등 4개 캐주얼 게임을 선보였다. 첫 출시 후 4개월간 완만한 성장세를 보였으나 11월 선보인 `라인 팝` 인기에 힘입어 가파른 상승 곡선을 그렸다.
라인 게임은 12개국 앱스토어에서 무료 종합 랭킹 1위, 게임 카테고리 1위를 차지했다. 플레이스토어에서는 10개국 무료 종합 랭킹 1위, 14개국 게임 카테고리 1위를 기록했다. 최근에는 국내 히트작 `드래곤 플라이트`와 `윈드러너`가 상위권에 진입해 새로운 성공 가능성을 높였다.
