SEOUL, KOREA – LS Cable & System, a leading Korean wire and cable maker, said Wednesday it will embark on targeting domestic and overseas markets following the successful development of the world's thinnest 10Gbps LAN cable.
Measuring 7.0 mm in outer diameter, the thinnest in the world compared to other products (7.2 - 8mm) developed by foreign companies, this product is lightweight, easy to install and significantly saves installation space, therefore reducing construction costs.
Since this thinnest LAN cable ensures rapid and sustainable transmission of large volumes of data, data centers, research centers, air ports and medical facilities are expected to opt for this thinnest cable. LS Cable & System is poised to target major domestic datacenters and oversea markets such as China and the EU.
"Customers can cut down on their investment cost in terms of management and operation by using the 10Gbps level LAN cable," explained LS Cable & System Senior Vice President Hyeong-won Kim.

LS전선(대표 구자은)은 세계에서 가장 가는 10기가비트(Gbps)급 랜(LAN) 케이블을 개발해 국내외 시장을 공략한다고 20일 밝혔다.
이번 개발한 제품은 지름이 7㎜다. 종전 7.2~8㎜ 수준의 해외 제품보다 가볍고 설치하기 쉽다. 케이블 포설에 필요한 공간을 줄일 수 있어 공사비 절감이 가능하다.
대용량 데이터를 빠르고 안정적으로 전송할 수 있어 데이터 센터, 연구소, 공항, 의료시설 등에 적용이 늘어날 것으로 기대된다. LS전선은 국내 주요 데이터 센터와 중국, 유럽 등 해외 시장을 적극 개척한다는 목표다.
