SEOUL, KOREA – Following the picture quality of LG Electronics’ UHD TV being certified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories), it has also won an ECV (Environmental Claim Validation) from UL Environment (ULE), a subsidiary of UL.UL's Environmental Claims Validation (ECV) program is designed to verify the eco-friendless of a product in the aspects of energy consumption and recyclability.
UL said that the LG UHD TV can cut energy consumption by up to 70% under the condition of "maximum" in energy saving mode thanks to LG’s “Smart Energy Saving” technology, which maximizes energy efficiency in accordance with a change in the TV viewing environment.
Early this month, the LG UHD TV’s picture quality was certified by UL and the EU’s TUV Rheinland in categories like color reproduction range, response time, brightness, color temperature and blinking.

LG UHD TV, 미 UL로부터 에너지효율 인증 획득
LG전자 초고선명(UHD) TV가 미국 인증기관 UL로부터 `화질`에 이어 `친환경 성능 인증(ECV Environmental Claim Validation)`을 획득, 에너지 효율 우수성을 입증했다고 27일 밝혔다.
친환경 성능 인증은 소비전력 저감, 재활용율 등 친환경 요소에 대해 검증하는 UL의 인증제도다.
UL은 LG전자 UHD TV가 `스마트 에너지 세이빙(Smart Energy Saving)` 기술로 최대절전모드에서 선명한 영상 대비 최고 70%의 소비전력이 저감 된다고 밝혔다.
LG전자의 스마트 에너지 세이빙 기술은 시청환경에 따라 에너지 효율을 극대화하는 소비전력 제어 기술이다.
LG UHD TV는 이달 초 미국 UL과 유럽 `티유브이 라인란드(TUV Rheinland)`로부터 색재현율, 응답속도, 휘도 편차, 색온도, 화면 깜빡임 등 화질 우수성을 인증 받았다.
박상희 LG전자 TV연구소장 상무는 “이번 인증으로 LG UHD TV의 화질뿐 아니라 에너지 효율도 세계적 기술력을 인정받았다”라며 “이를 바탕으로 차세대 디스플레이 시장의 주도권을 확고히 하겠다”고 말했다.
