Seoul, Korea - LS Cable & System (LSCnS) announced on the 30th that it succeeded in developing high-performance fireproof cable that withstands extreme heat up to 1,000 Celsius degrees.
This new cable can send signals and supply power for 3 hours without being burned by the fire to firefighting and disaster protection facilities, such as fire alarms, sprinklers and ventilation devices.
The existing fireproof cables could withstand heat up to 750 Celsius degrees. The company explained that its new product will be able to extend the operation time of firefighting and disaster protection facilities more stably under extreme conditions.
Since the company started to develop the fireproof cable for ships and marine plants in June last year, LS CnS continued its R&D to launch fireproof cables specialized in buildings and social infrastructure, silicone insulation and optic fiber.
Wan-gi Park, Senior Vice President of LS CnS Basic Technology Lab said, “the new cable was certified by all of IEC, BS and EN. We will actively approach domestic and foreign shipbuilders, marine plant builders and construction companies.”

LS전선(대표 구자은)은 최고 섭씨 1000도에서 견디는 고성능 내화 케이블 개발에 성공했다고 30일 밝혔다.
이 제품은 화재 발생시에도 불에 타지 않고 3시간 이상 비상 전원, 화재 경보기, 스프링쿨러, 유독가스 환기장치 등 핵심 소방•방재 설비에 전원과 신호를 공급할 수 있다.
기존 내화 케이블은 섭씨 750도까지 견딜 수 있었다. 회사측은 극한 조건에서 견딜 수 있는 신제품 덕분에 소방 방재시설을 안정적으로 작동시킬 수 있게 됐다고 설명했다.
LS전선은 지난해 6월 선박•해양플랜트에 쓰이는 내화 케이블을 처음 개발한 후 연구개발을 지속해왔다. 빌딩•사회간접자본용, 실리콘 절연, 광섬유 내화 케이블을 연달아 출시했다.
박완기 기반기술연구소 전무는 “이 제품은 국제전기기술위원회(IEC), 영국공업규격(BS), 유럽규격(EN) 인증을 모두 획득했다”며 “국내외 조선 해양플랜트 업체, 건설회사에 적극적으로 마케팅을 펼칠 것” 이라고 말했다.
