KTF

Five theme parks necessary to showcase everything

KTF (www.ktf.com) will join ITU Telecom World 2006, which is held at the Asia World Expo Hall in Hong Kong from December 4 to 8. This is KTF's third participation in the ITU exhibition following the event for 1999 and 2003. The world exposition, which is referred to as the Olympics of the IT industry, will include national halls from the USA, Japan, Russia, France, Finland, and Korea. Also, world famous telecommunication companies such as KT, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, AT&T, Motorola, and Qualcomm are joining this event. Along with KT, KTF has made a booth with a floor space of 380 square meters at the entrance of the exhibition floor, and five theme parks -- U-Park, U-Mall, UStation, U-Metro, and U-Tech -- will be displayed.

Visitors of the exhibition can enjoy various kinds of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) based services such as video calling, videoconferencing, and CNSR-MIP. Visitors also can experience Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based services including wine information and bus information. In addition, KTF will demonstrate an RF repeater with an Inference Cancellation System (ICS), while operating a consultation booth for global business. KTF is focusing on HSDPA based services, which are rapidly extending its share in the global market, in order to take up its position as a global leader in mobile communication services.

The five different theme parks will be based on specific subjects. The U-Park will present an HSDPA-based service such as video calling, videoconference and CNSR-MIP. In case of the video calling, from July in Korea, KTF has started to provide customers with commercial services, and is now extending its coverage to 84 cities by the end of this year. In case of videoconferencing, by using a 3G phone, up to three people can be invited to the conference that can be held regardless of time and place.

The U-Mall will showcase RFID technology. By using RFID technology, KTF has presented a future wine bar where customers can get the information they want on a real-time basis. The RFID tag is on the wine bottles, and the mobile phone is equipped with an RFID reader. Therefore, the mobile phone can recognize the wine brand, how to drink it, and recommend well-matched food, thus providing customers with the best choice.

The U-Station will provide users with personal, customized information. Like the above-mentioned wine bar, the RFID tag is tied to bus stations, and so users with a mobile phone can be served with information on the arrival time of buses as well as useful information on the neighborhood.

The U-Metro station will offer an experience having to do with when people are on the move in the subway and bus, or stay in the outdoors. The people can be provided with a variety of entertainment services such as dosirak, POP-up, and cool shot.

The U-Tech pavilion will let visitors experience a new kind of RF repeater which has an interference cancellation system.
