SEOUL, KOREA – SFA, a South Korea-based semiconductor and display equipment maker, said on Thursday that it won a USD 14.79 million solar module equipment contract from Nexolon America.
Nexolon America plans to build a 200㎿ production line in its solar power plant in San Antonio by September of 2014. SFA will supply a 200㎿ production line to Nexolon America in a turnkey system manner.
SFA, which has been committed to display equipment, is cable of providing a range of solar power-related systems - from raw material automatic production facilities to module equipment. SFA has also been engaged in the development of sputters, one of the key equipment for solar battery modules. SFA has recently succeeded in developing a sputter for transparent electrodes.
SFA beat European solar battery equipment manufacturers to win this project from Nexolon America. Thus, it is fair to say that SFA’s technologies have been recognized overseas, SFA said.

SFA, 미국 넥솔론으로부터 170억원 규모 태양광모듈장비 수주
반도체•디스플레이 장비 업체인 에스에프에이(대표 김영민)는 미국 넥솔론아메리카LLC로부터 1479만달러(약 170억원) 규모의 태양광 모듈 장비 공급 계약을 체결했다고 11일 밝혔다.
미국 넥솔론아메리카LLC는 내년 9월까지 미국 샌안토니오 태양광 발전소에 200㎿급 생산라인을 구축할 계획이다. SFA는 생산라인 일체를 턴키방식으로 공급할 예정이다.
SFA는 디스플레이 장비를 주력으로 해온 기업이며, 태양광 시장에서는 원재료 생산 자동화 설비에서 모듈 장비에 이르는 일괄시스템을 보유하고 있다. 지난 2009년부터는 태양전지 모듈 핵심 장비인 스퍼터도 개발해 왔다. 최근 투명전극용 스퍼터 개발을 완료한 바 있다.
이번 계약은 유럽 태양전지 장비 전문회사와 경쟁해 수주한 것이다. SFA는 이번 수주를 통해 대외적으로 기술력을 인정받았다고 평가했다. SFA 관계자는 “이번 수주는 현재 회복 단계에 진입한 태양광 산업, 특히 미국 시장에서 성사됐다는 점에서 의의가 있다”고 말했다.
