Seoul, Korea - A new communication technology that enables Smartphone to be connected with general analog radios has been developed. When commercialized, all analog radio signals can be digitalized to be linked to smartphone and even to PCs.
InitialT, a local mobile solution company (represented by Lee Gyou-dong), announced on July 10 that it completed developing its own ‘Soft PTT (Soft Push-to-Talk)’ solution into the one that can communicate with analog radios.
‘Soft PTT’ is a solution embedded in Smartphone and is able to change the existing radio signals into software. Using this solution, Smartphone can be used as an analog walkie-talkie. But this solution had its own limit. It couldn’t be connected with the already widely-established analog radios or TRS (Trunked Radio System).
It was only after a technology that could support SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) used for VoIP that Soft PTT was able to be connected with the existing analog radios. Just like VoIP is linked with analog PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), the communication between Soft PTT and analog radios has now become possible.
When two different types of networks are combined, even the existing analog radios which have a limited communication range will be able to be connected to anyplace nationwide by accessing RoIP (Radio over IP). And smart systems based on the solution can be established as well.
For instance, Smartphone users can transmit data in and out of analog wireless networks used by fire and police stations, and when installing the same UI, PCs in their control rooms can collect information transmitted through radios so as to immediately respond to emergency situations.
“It has become possible to drastically reduce costs and develop a number of management systems as diversified radio systems including UHF, VHF, TRS and others can be used, as they are, to communicate with smartphone radio system,” says a person from InitialT.
스마트폰, 아날로그 무전기와 연결된다
스마트폰과 일반 아날로그 무전기를 연결하는 통신 기술이 개발됐다. 기존 아날로그 무전기와 스마트폰 무전기는 서로 연결되지 않고 같은 종류끼리만 통신이 가능했다. 하지만 새 기술이 상용화되면 아날로그 무전기의 신호까지 모두 디지털화해 스마트폰뿐만 아니라 PC까지 연결할 수 있다.
모바일 솔루션 기업 이니셜티(대표 이규동)는 자사의 소프트 PTT(Soft Push-to-Talk) 솔루션을 아날로그 무전기와 서로 통신할 수 있도록 개발을 완료했다고 10일 밝혔다.
소프트 PTT는 기존 무전기를 소프트웨어화해 스마트폰에 내장한 솔루션이다. 별도로 무전기 장비를 구입할 필요없이 스마트폰만으로 무전기와 같은 통신을 할 수 있지만 이미 광범위하게 구축된 아날로그 무전기나 주파수공용통신(TRS) 망과는 연계가 되지 않는 한계가 있었다.
소프트 PPT가 기존 아날로그 무전기와 통신이 가능한 건 인터넷전화(VoIP)에 쓰이는 접속설정프로토콜(SIP)을 지원하는 기술이 개발되면서다. 인터넷전화와 아날로그 기반 시내전화(PSTN)가 연결되듯, 소프트 PPT와 아날로그 무전기가 통신이 가능해진 것이다.
다른 종류의 두 통신망이 결합되면 일단 통신거리에 제한이 있는 기존 아날로그 무전기로도 RoIP(Radio over IP)에 접속해 전국 어디에나 연결할 수 있게 된다. 이를 기반으로 스마트하게 이용할 수 있는 시스템 구축도 가능하다.
이를테면 아날로그 방식으로 구축된 소방·경찰 무선망에 스마트폰으로 송·수신 참여를 할 수 있고 관제실의 PC에도 같은 사용자인터페이스를 통해 무전으로 오가는 정보를 수집, 비상상황 발생 시 즉각 대응하는 것도 가능해진다.
이니셜티 관계자는 “UHF·VHF·TRS 등 다원화돼 있는 각종 무전 시스템을 그대로 활용해 스마트 무전시스템으로 일원화할 수 있어 획기적인 비용 절감과 다양한 관리 방식 개발이 가능하다”고 말했다.
