In order for Robot World 2007 (www.robotworld.or.kr) to become a substantial robot exhibition and conference in which world buyers can unfold business talks, the robot industry must be settled from Korea above everything else.

Such an opinion was stated during an exclusive interview with CEO Shin Kyungchul of Yujin Robots who is now leading the Korea Association of Robotics. CEO Shin pointed out that today is a crucial moment for domestic robot business circles. Robot manufacturers which overcome this crucial moment will develop in robot business circles, he predicts, or they will disappear.

In that regard, Shin stated that the upcoming Robot World 2007 to be held on October 18 to 21, 2007 at COEX, Seoul, is expected to provide overseas buyers with Korea robot industry current address as it should, to say nothing of the general public at home, provoking interest in robots anew.

It is said that the Secretariat of Robot World 2007 is very enthusiastic for the success of the upcoming exhibition and conference by means of special project such as the global boom-up, first class invitations, and up close and personal meetings. Global boom-up is preceding the Robot World I Dream with a whole year campaign and constructing a Global Network which unites the entire world as one, for instance by utilizing global TV channels such as CNN, ESPN, and STAR TV.

Shin adds that the Secretariat is operating a Buyer Marketing Center (BMC) which possesses the largest robot database of approximately 100,000 companies and will support the best level invitation program in the world for invitation buyers as well as overseas special journal reporters.

He assessed Korea robot industry outlook very positively, adding that robot participation companies increased in large numbers and the Robot Land project also is under way right now as the first theme park in the world which is expected to provoke a robot boom.

Furthermore, he said that Korea holds its edge in service robots when comparing with Japan, stressing that Korea is more aggressive in commercializing new robot products. However, the robot veteran feels something lacking because the robotics industry is not growing large with a great puff as social expectation and robot market is not being opened except for some cleaning robots and robots for education.

In that respect, the pioneering world market by means of technology exchange between international academic societies, robot technology standardization discussion and cooperation between nations comes to the front for our robot business circles as an important task, according to Shin.

The Korea Association of Robotics is also running diligently to help domestic robot business circles make inroads into the overseas market plus supporting publicity activities as well as holding robot exhibitions and conferences like Robot World 2007, he said.

With regard to the one household one robot era in 2020, the CEO forecasted: s the future star industry, the importance of the intelligent robotics industry lies in the fact that it possesses its growth potential over its rival car industry scale with US$500 billion in 2020 according to Japan Mitsubishi Institute. As a substitution means for working power shortage according to birth rate decline and an aging society and further as an alternative for national welfare, the one household one robot era will represent the post-PC generation, Shin explained.
