Its share in the total intellectual property income has also increased to 23.3 percent from 15.7 percent in 2011. The income from intellectual property rights related to the Korean Wave include those earnings made by game developers, TV stations, and film makers, and music producers from selling contents overseas.
Of these, the income earned by game companies account for as much as 85 percent at $680 million. Only five years ago, the game companies had earned only $170 million from such sources.
