The 2007 IMID is also serving as a bridge between Korea and overseas equipment companies as well as parts and materials companies.
On August 30, 2007, Daegu's EXCO Convention Hall hosted a foreign buyer trade counseling meeting all day long and provided a place for foreign panel companies and small and medium sized domestic companies to have meaningful business counseling. Eighteen main panel manufacturing companies from China and Taiwan participated in the third trade counseling meeting and sixty small and medium sized domestic companies were available for them to get as much information as they needed.
There were twice the number of both foreign buyers and domestic participants compared to last year. The number of official counselors was 50 more than last year, leaving the number at 210 counseling cases. The counseling included business transactions worth approximately $70 million.
CEO of Sunik System Lim Hoon said: "Building business relationships through trade counsel meetings and inviting buyers during the period of IMID has become a tradition these days. It's no longer a special invitation." He further commented that IMID is the best way to establish networks with foreign clients. The association provided an event where the buyers and domestic participants could interact. Here, they could socialize at a cocktail reception and build strong relationships.
