The test runs were led to success by the collaboration between a Ghanian DMB promotion enterprise called BlackStar TV, a Korea SI enterprise called 2ii Technology and ETRI.
BlackStar TV is running one channel throughout all Ghana at this point. After a few months of testing, two more channels will be added.
The MIC added that DMB is also running in the Netherlands by the broadcast company called Mobile Televise Nederland (MTVNL). The service had been running since July 11.
Park Yoon-hyun, the director of Broadcast Policy Division, met the Netherlands' former minister of economy and DMB forum participants to seek for further partnership. Director Park stated that EU countries are in favor of DMB because their Digital Video Broadcasting- Handheld's (DVB-H) frequency of 474 to 746 MHz is used in analog or digital TVs.
It costs a lot to build networks and they are having a hard time finding empty frequencies. Currently Korea, Germany, and China have successfully ran DMB. England, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, China, South Africa, Ghana, and Indonesia are running test runs and having good results already. Korea expects further technology exports with many more countries.
