News agencies including Reuters said on July 8 that Dell would soon start selling its laptops and desktops at Asian retail stores including Korea, china and Japan. It shows that Dell actually breaks from its 23-year-old practice of direct sales to customers with the start of its indirect sales in U.S. market last month and in Asian market this month.
Paul-Henri Ferrand, who heads Dell's operations in the Asia-Pacific region, said the company was in talks with some retail chains and specialized stores across Asia. He said different chains and stores would be used for selling lower- and higher-priced computers in different Asian countries.
Korean customers will soon be able to buy Dell computers at nearby retail stores during the second half of this year.
