Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, SK Telecom has achieved interworking of 1.8 GHz FD-LTE and 2.6 GHz TD-LTE trial networks under cooperation with Mobily, Saudi Arabia’s leading mobile operator. With this success, SK Telecom expects to soon commercialize an international auto roaming service that operates on two different standards (FD-LTE and TD-LTE) of LTE technology.
“SK Telecom is pleased to announce the launch of LTE roaming service in Japan. With the goal of delivering greater value and convenience to customers, we are striving to expand our international roaming coverage,” said Kim Young-sup, Senior Vice President and Head of Collaboration Marketing Office at SK Telecom. “Our efforts have also led us to achieve another important milestone in the field of LTE roaming. By achieving successful interworking between FD-LTE and TD-LTE trial networks in Saudi Arabia, we are confident that we will able to bring LTE roaming service to another level.”
