SEOUL, KOREA- Olympus released a new mirrorless camera in the Korean market on October 14, aimed at increasing its presence there. At present, the Korean mirrorless camera market is led by Sony which is trailed closely by Samsung Electronics. Olympus has a single-digit market share, competing with the likes of Nikon, Canon, and Fuji Film.

Olympus held a press conference on October 14 at the Westin Chosun Seoul where it unveiled its brand-new OM-D E-M1 (E-M1) model. The most outstanding feature of the model is that it allows compatibility between four thirds lens, used for DSLR, and micro four thirds lens, used for mirrorless camera.

In other words, this model has the strength of both DSLR and mirrorless camera. An Olympus official said, “We expect this model to serve as a key model that can integrate the two different markets.”

With a Dual Fast Auto Focus that supports two auto-focuses simultaneously, the model improves the performance of Continuous Auto Focus.
