SEOUL, KOREA- Dongbu Daewoo Electronics announced on October 28 that the sales of its microwave oven “Zero On” passed the 400,000 mark in two years after being released. The Zero On is a brand-new microwave oven designed to prevent standby electricity losses.
Over the past two years, the Zero On has been sold 550 units per day. The Zero On also achieved strong sales in foreign markets, including 100,000 units in Mexico, 30,000 units in the UK, and 20,000 units in the Czech Republic.

This microwave oven automatically prevents standby electric power losses by stopping operation if it remains untouched for ten minutes after being turned on.

According to an experiment by the Korea Electro-technology Research Institute (KERI), the standby power consumption of a microwave oven is 2.2 watts, the volume that can run the microwave oven for 6.5 hours in a year.
