SEOUL, KOREA- SK Hynix announced on October 29 that it achieved record-high performance in the third quarter of this year, posting sales of 4.08 trillion won and an operating profit of 1.16 trillion won.
Sales rose by 69 percent year on year and up 4 percent compared to a quarter ago. Operating profit rose by 5 percent from a quarter ago and marked a positive turnaround compared to a year ago. Net profit, which reflect financial expenses and corporate tax, amounted to 958 billion won.

SK Hynix attributed the strong results to an increase in the prices of DRAMs, plus an increase in shipments of NAND flash memories, resulting from the releasing of a new model for mobile use.

For the third quarter, the average price of DRAMs rose by 5 percent compared to a quarter ago, thanks to a steady growth in the price of DRAMs for personal computer and server use, as well as an increase in the share of mobile DRAMs.
